We ask future customers to please read all our reviews before deciding to order from us. The majority are glowing - both on this page and our other shop Anne Balogh - Art. A few negative ones revolve around shipping time. We clearly state how long our HANDMADE custom orders will take. In this case, we even offered a full refund due to some confusion and were told to go ahead with the order. With acknowledgement that the mistake was on the customers end. We successfully made the guarantee of delivery before Christmas. This is on top of two full time jobs and a serious health issue this fall. We are proud of our work, and try our best to make our customers happy. However, we also are human, and expect to be treated well by our customers. that is what etsy should be about.

Birds, ping pong balls and ornaments. We never thought ping pong balls would be our muse!

It started with the ornaments. They came to life one Christmas after my fiance, Sacha Mikheidze, and I made a few for my mom as a present. He is the sculptor, I am the painter and as ornithologists, we both love birds. After seeing a little chickadee all puffed up in the cold, I had the idea to use a round shape as a base for a silly, cute ornament. That shape: re-purposed old ping pong balls. One bird led in to more birds, until we had quite a few species designed, and Potbellies Ornaments™ was born! Then we had another epiphany, what about using the ornaments to make MOBILES!!!! And the rest, as they say is history.

We hand sculpt and hand paint each ornament, and as such, each ornament is unique, durable and one of a kind. The sculpting medium we use dries to an extremely tough finish (it is not FIMO) and is non-toxic. The paint is acrylic, and is also non-toxic. As silly as they are, we try to stay accurate to each animal species. We will make ANY bird or animal, so just ask if you don't see the one you want!

We are both biologists who met on a field job, plus we both are creative, he sculpts, I paint! It took him five years to convince me to date him, but we now have been together six years and will be getting married May 2013!
